What is orthodontics?
Orthodontics is the specialist branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of dental and facial irregularities that may occur in children and adults.
Who is an orthodontist?
A Specialist Othodontist must first qualify as a dentist, undertaking 5 years of study and exams, gain several years of clinical experience before then going on to a three year full time postgraduate training at a university hospital.
Following success across rigorous exams and clinical presentations, this leads to a specialist orthodontic qualification and a listing on the General Dental Council Specialist Register.
Although some General Dentists offer basic orthodontic treatment, here at The Orthdontic and Aesthetics Clinic we are priviledged to have Dr Janet Whitehead and Dr Rippon Sanghera, both highly qualified and experienced Specialist Orthodontists on the GDC Specialist Orthodontic Register.
